Recent Activities:
Business Promotion Council under the supervision of Ministry of Commerce is actively identifying and working with the development issues and factors for the infrastructure development as well as export diversification of Medicinal Plants & Herbal sector. Some of the recent activities of Medicinal Plant & Herbal Product Business Promotion Council are mentioned bellow-

Training programme on
"Processing of Exportable Medicinal Plant"

Recently on 11th June, 2011 an extensive training programme on "Processing of Exportable Medicinal Plant" held at Institution of Diploma Engineers; Kakrail, Dhaka. Md. Ghulam Hussain, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce (MoC) & Chairman, Business Promotion Council was the chief guest. Major General Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Director, Drug Administration and Dr. Dilip Kumar Roy, Chairman, Bangladesh Homeopathy Board, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mazumder, Co-ordinator, Business Promotion Council & Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce was present as special guest. Chief guest, Md. Ghulam Hussain, who is the honorable secretary of Ministry of Commerce (MoC), depicted the views of the Government to develop the herbal sector. He also gave emphasis to come forward with international standard facility & products of the herbal sector. The meeting concluded with the training speeches of scientists & experts of the respective sector.


Awareness building workshop on
"The contribution of herbal products to improve the public-health of Bangladesh"

Recently on 24th July, 2011 an extensive awareness building workshop on "The contribution of herbal products to improve the public-health of Bangladesh" held at Uttara Community Centre, Rajshahi. Mr. A.H.M Khairuzzaman (Liton) Honorable Meyor, Rajshahi City Corporation was the Chief guest and Mr.Fazle Hasan Badsha, Member of parliament and Mr. Anwarul Based, Assistant Director, Drug Administration were the special guest. The chief guest is his speech gave commitment to ensure leasing of land for the producer of medicinal plants. Besides workshop, anexhibition of herbal products of local 6 companies was held too.


Capacity building workshop on
"Production Management & Development of Herbal Food and Cosmetics"

Recently on 29th December, 2011 a robust capacity building workshop on "Production Management & Development of Herbal Food and Cosmetics" held at Bogra. Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, Executive Director, TMSS was present as chief guest. Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaha, 2nd Vice-Chairman, MPHPBPC was the special guest. Dr. Hosne Ara Begum stated that the private manufactures of the relevant sector have no other option but to comply with the international standards and guidelines for the products and facility. In the later section of the programme, two experts on this sector conducted the training session.


Training programme on
"Unani Medicine in Primary Health Care: Global Potentiality"

Bangladesh Unani Aushadh Shilpa Samity and Medicinal Plants & Herbal Products Business Promotion Council jointly organized a training programme on "Unani Medicine in Primary Health Care: Global Potentiality". The programme held on 28th June 2011 at Institution of Diploma Engineers Auditorium, Dhaka. Mr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare was present as chief guest. The chief guest stated that Unani medicine is not only one of the prime medical sectors of the sub-continent area, but also is being recognized by the 1st world countries. Teachers, students and experts from different public and private organizations were present.


Capacity building workshop on
"Role of Herbal Products in the Public Health Sector of Bangladesh"

MPHPBPC & Bangladesh Ayurvedic Aushadh Shilpa Samity jointly organized a capacity building workshop on "Role of Herbal Products in the Public Health of Bangladesh" at Institution of Diploma Engineers Auditorium, Dhaka. The programme held on 11th June 2011 and Mr. Dilip Barua, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Industry was the chief guest. The chief guest in his speech stated that for the development of the relevant industries of traditional medicine, the Government is taking all the initiatives.

Participation in the International Heath Fair: Arogya - 2006

The Health Fair: Arogya 2006 was held in New Delhi, India during 14 to 17 October, 2006. It was jointly organized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industries. A three-member delegation led by Dr. S.A.M. Reza-ur Rahim went to India to participate at this event with the objective to gather knowledge about products and technology related to the sector.

Different sub-sctoral products and profiles were displayed in the fair. These were: ayurvedic, yoga & naturopathy, unani, siddha, homoeopathy, medicinal plants, and food supplements. Products and process Technology related machinery & equipment, health fitness systems, therapies-herbal, panchkarma and related books and publications were also displayed in the fair.

The delegation attended at a day long seminar on chronic diseases, and various disorders of the patients and its management by ayurveda, unani, homoeopathy, yoga, and naturopathy & siddha system. The Indian Forest Research Institute established conservation plots with over 100 medicinal, aromatic and other non-food products for display.

Exposure Visit in INDIA

An Exposure Visit to INDIA was organized under a capacity building partnership project with KATALYST from June 9 - June 14 (First Team), and June 29 - July 05. The objective of the visit was to share experience & understand how the business promotion councils in India are functioning on a sustainable basis. It was a program of huge opportunity to learn from the Councils actively functioning in India.


Participation in the
International Indigenous Healthcare Exhibition and Symposium "Ayurveda-2007"

Four-member delegation visit Sri Lanka to attend the international Indigenous Healthcare Exhibition and Symposium "Ayurveda-2007" to be held from 7-9 September, 2007 in Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Centre (SLECC). The above event with the objective to gather knowledge about products and technology is being practiced in neighboring countries relating the sector.
