Activities of APBPC
APBPC is implementing the following activities:
1. Activities implemented with the member associations
To promote and facilitate export of Agro & Horticulture products, APBPC used to undertake different need based programs and implement its activities with the member associations. Hence, the Council in cooperation with the member associations usually implements different training/ awareness/ seminars/ fair participation programs. APBPC has already implemented 9 training/ awareness/ seminar programs in partnership with the member associations.
2.Activities under BEGP program
Ministry of Commerce has initiated a project named Bangladesh Economic Growth Programme (BEGP). BEGP aims at developing export competitiveness of the Aquaculture, Leather & Horticulture sectors. Various activities to be undertaken under BEGP will have to be implemented through the sector specific councils of BPC (Fisheries Products BPC, Leather Sector BPC and Agro Products BPC). APBPC is implementing the activities of BEGP in partnership with the member associations. APBPC has already implemented 3 training programs in partnership with BFVAPEA, BHPEA & BMPMA in FY 2011-2012.
3. Activities in partnership with KATALYST
KATALYST is a market development project under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. It is implemented by Swisscontact & GIZ and funded by Department for International Development (DFID), Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN). KATALYST has been operating in Bangladesh since 2002. The project is currently promoting a good number of sectors and cross-sectors that include agricultural sectors like vegetables, seed, maize and services such as ICT, rural distribution and media. It also works in partnership with different market players like the government, private sector companies and business associations to improve the enabling environment for businesses among its other activities. In this consequence, in FY 2011-2012, Katalyst and APBPC completed one partnership project on potato sector. Some other projects related to agriculture export are going on.
